Air India Fined ₹10 Lakh by DGCA for Non-Compliance
India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has imposed a fine of ₹10 lakh on Air India for the airline's failure to comply with regulatory rules. This marks the second occasion on which the DGCA has imposed such a penalty on the national carrier.
The DGCA conducted inspections at airports in Delhi, Kochi, and Bangalore in May and September to assess airlines' adherence to regulations concerning facilities and compensation for passengers. The inspections revealed that Air India was not in compliance with the relevant Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR).
“During the inspections of the airlines, it was observed that Air India was not complying with the provisions of the relevant CAR (Civil Aviation Requirements),” the DGCA states.
This is not the first instance of such penalties; last year, Air India faced a similar fine of ₹10 lakh for violating CAR provisions related to denied boarding of passengers during inspections at major airports.
